The Selection Of Stainless Steel Flange Materials

The selection of stainless steel flange materials should be based on a comprehensive assessment of the application scenario, corrosive environment, temperature, pressure, and other conditions. Below are common materials and their applicable scenarios:

304 Stainless Steel (06Cr19Ni10)
Features: Contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, no molybdenum, resistant to general corrosion, cost-effective.
Applicable scenarios: Dry environments, food processing, architectural decoration, household appliance housings, etc.
Limitations: Prone to pitting corrosion in environments containing chloride ions (e.g., seawater, swimming pool water).

316 Stainless Steel (06Cr17Ni12Mo2)
Features: Contains 2.5% molybdenum, enhanced resistance to chloride ion corrosion, high-temperature resistance (≤649℃).
Applicable scenarios: Marine equipment, chemical pipelines, medical instruments, high-temperature and high-pressure environments.

304L/316L (Low Carbon Versions)
Features: Carbon content ≤0.03%, superior resistance to intergranular corrosion compared to standard 304/316.
Applicable scenarios: Equipment subjected to high-temperature welding or requiring long-term corrosion resistance (e.g., nuclear power, pharmaceuticals).

Other Materials
347 Stainless Steel (CF8C): Contains niobium, suitable for ultra-high-temperature (≥540℃) environments.

Selection Recommendations
General Industrial Use: Prefer 304, low cost and meets most requirements.
