1. Easy to operate and quick to open and close.
Just rotate the handle or actuator by 90 degrees (a quarter turn) to switch from fully open to fully closed or vice versa. This makes the operation of opening and closing very quick and easy, and is particularly suitable for situations where frequent opening and closing or emergency shut-off is required.
2. Excellent sealing performance
When fully closed, the ball makes tight contact with the valve seat, providing a bidirectional seal (it can seal regardless of which side the medium flows from), effectively preventing leakage. High-quality ball valves (such as those with soft seals) can achieve zero leakage, meeting strict environmental protection and safety standards.
3. It has extremely low flow resistance and strong flow capacity.
When the valve is fully open, the diameter of the channel inside the valve body is usually almost the same as the inner diameter of the pipe (referred to as full bore ball valve), and the channel of the ball is in a straight-through shape. This enables the medium to pass through almost without obstruction, with an extremely low flow resistance coefficient, reducing pressure loss and saving energy consumption of pumps or compressors.
4. Compact structure and relatively small volume
Compared with gate valves or globe valves of the same diameter, ball valves have a simpler, more compact structure and are lighter in weight. This saves installation space and is particularly beneficial for piping systems with limited space.
5. Wide range of applications and strong versatility
- Media adaptability: It can be applied to various media such as water, oil, gas, steam, corrosive chemicals (corresponding materials and seals need to be selected).
- Pressure and temperature range: From vacuum to high pressure (up to several hundred Bar), from low temperature to medium-high temperature (depending on the sealing material, soft seals are generally ≤ 200℃, while hard seals can reach higher temperatures). It is applicable to all these ranges.
- Diameter range: From small instrument valves (a few millimeters) to large pipeline valves (over 1 meter), there are mature products available for all sizes.
