1. Precise flow regulation capability
Excellent throttling control: The linear or parabolic motion between the valve core (valve disc) and the valve seat allows for fine adjustment of the flow. The valve opening is proportional to the flow change, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent regulation.
High regulation accuracy: Compared to gate valves (mainly used for cutting off) and butterfly valves (with lower regulation accuracy), globe valves are more suitable for systems that require precise control, such as steam and chemical media.
2. Excellent sealing performance
Small wear on sealing surfaces: The sliding friction between the valve disc and the sealing surfaces of the valve seat is minimal during opening and closing, and they can be repaired by grinding. The sealing reliability is high.
Low leakage rate: When fully closed, the medium pressure helps the valve disc to tightly press against the valve seat, and the bidirectional sealing performance is good (some designs can support bidirectional sealing).
3. Short opening and closing stroke, easy operation
Short valve stem stroke: Compared to gate valves which require full opening or full closing to complete the opening and closing, the control of the stop valve can be achieved by rotating the valve stem by 90° or a shorter stroke. The opening and closing speed is fast.
Low operating torque: Especially in small-diameter high-pressure conditions, manual operation is more convenient than that of gate valves.
4. Compact structure, easy maintenance
The valve body is simple in design: During disassembly and repair, there is no need to remove the valve body from the pipeline. All that is required is to open the valve cover to replace the valve disc, valve seat, and other internal components.
Suitable for high pressure and high temperature: It is mostly used in steam, high-pressure water, oil products, and corrosive media (such as chemical pipelines), and has strong pressure resistance.
5. Wide range of applicable media
High viscosity or particle-containing media: Compared with ball valves or butterfly valves, the flow channel design of the globe valve can accommodate a certain degree of viscous fluids (tilted flow channels or Y-type globe valves need to be selected).
High-temperature and high-pressure steam: Commonly used in power plant steam systems, boiler feed water, etc. Its temperature and pressure resistance performance is superior to that of most butterfly valves.
