Why choose the observation valve? What kinds of valves are there?

Observation valves have gradually become crucial pipe fittings and valves in the current pipeline layout. They provide safety guarantees for the entire pipeline and indirectly reduce safety risks and costs for the entire pipeline system.

Observing valves are used to monitor production conditions in real time, troubleshoot problems and ensure safety. Commonly used observing valves (such as straight-through sight glasses and flow indicators) do not control the flow themselves, but provide a visual window on the pipeline.

The benefits of observing valves are mainly reflected in three aspects:

  1. Directly observe the flow state, color and turbidity of the liquid, gas, steam and other media in the pipeline.
  2. When the system experiences abnormal flow, blockage or no flow, the cause can be quickly determined through the observation valve whether it is due to the valve itself being stuck, the valve core falling off, or problems in the upstream pipeline.
  3. Ensure the safe operation of the system. In dangerous environments such as chemical plants, it is used to monitor high-temperature, highly corrosive and easily crystallized media to prevent safety accidents caused by false liquid levels or blockages.

Different observation valves are used in different working environments. Made of carbon steel, they are suitable for general media such as water, steam, and oil, but are not corrosion-resistant.

Stainless steel material

It is the most widely applicable corrosion-resistant material and suitable for various corrosive media.

Alloy steel and special stainless steel materials

Suitable for harsh environments such as high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosion.

Lined with plastic or fluorine

Suitable for highly corrosive media such as strong acids and strong alkalis.

So

  • Non-corrosive media: Carbon steel is optional and cost-effective.
  • Common corrosive media: 304 or 316 stainless steel is preferred.
  • Strongly corrosive or special media: Fluorine-lined valves or special alloys are required.
  • High-temperature or low-temperature media: Special high-temperature steel or low-temperature steel must be selected.
